'Twas far I had not scouted out |

'Twas a crocodile, I plainly could see, |

He was not of a common race, |

For I was oblig'd to climb a high tree |

Before I could see his face. |
その顔が見えるまで |

And when he lifted up his jaw, |
そしてそいつが顎を持ち上げたとき |

Though perhaps you may think 'tis a lie, |

He reach'd above the clouds for miles three score, |

He quickly clos'd his jaws on me, |
やつはすぐに俺の上に顎を閉じた |

And thought he got a victim, |
生贄が手に入ったと思ったんだな |

But I ran down his throat d'ye see? |
でも俺はやつの喉を降りてったわかるかい？ |

And that's the way I trick'd him. |

I travell'd on for a month or two, |

やつはとっても長くデカかった |

His skin was eight miles thick |
皮の厚みも８マイルだぜ |

I'm sure or very near about. |
きっとそれくらいさ |

For I was full ten years or more |
だって10年かそこらもかかったんだから |

A-cutting my way out. |
切り裂きながら出てくるのに |
