There's none to soothe my soul to rest,	私の心を癒してくれる人はいない
There's none my load of grief to share	悲しみの重荷を分かち合う人はいない
Or wake to joy this lonely breast,	この寂しい胸を喜ばしたり
Or light the gloom of dark despair.	暗い絶望の暗闇を照らす人はいない

The voice of joy no more can cheer,	喜びの声がもう元気づけてくれることはない
The look of love no more can warm	愛の表情が温めてくれることはもうない
Since mute for aye's that voice so dear,	あのいとしい声は聞こえなくなってしまったのだから
And closed that eye alone could charm.	そして閉じてしまったあの目だけが喜ばせることができたのたから

いとしい人は亡くなってしまったのだろうか。悲しみに暮れている。できるのはただ寄り添うことだけ。
